Issa-Souju Memorial Hall

Sightseeing Spots | Visit Chiba | Latest update:2021/12/24

Issa Kobayashi was one of the premier Haiku poets of the Edo period. He was closely acquainted with a powerful mirin producer of Nagareyama, Souju Akimoto, having visited his estate over 50 times.
Combining both of their names to commemorate their friendship, the "Issa Souju" Memorial Hall was made with a splendid garden and tea house for all to relax within, and find their inner poet.
